Hot Sealing: The working principle of the SEMI Automatic Taping Machine is to connect the power and air source of the tape feeder properly, then heat the cutting blade to the appropriate temperature, adjust the air pressure of the Carrier Tape and the air source.

Then, either manually or through automatic feeding, place the SMD components onto the Carrier Tape. The formed tape is sent to the Sealing position by the rotation of the motor.

At this time, the cover tape is on top and the Carrier Tape is on the bottom, so that the two heated blades press against the cover tape and the Carrier Tape, sealing the opening of the SMD components. Thus, the purpose of SMD component Sealing is achieved.

Cold Sealing: Some SEMI Automatic Taping Machine use cold Sealing. Cold sealing is a method where the cover tape and the Carrier Tape are stuck together without heating the cutting blade. At this time, the cover tape must be sticky.

The Carrier Tape generally passes through two sensors. The first one is for technology, and the second one is for material control, which is to detect whether any components are missed in the Carrier Tape.

If it detects a missed placement, then the motor of the tape feeder will stop immediately, and the cutting blade will rise to the top. The counting sensor needs to be connected with optical fibers; otherwise, it is prone to counting errors.
